How to fix a jumbled up OBS Screen?

This is a quick tip on how to unscramble the OBS window when your monitor loses power or resolution changes occur.

Here is how OBS screen jumbles up when my monitor is shutoff or lost power.

When playing certain games or even having a screensaver with power saving mode on, the obs window can start to mess up as shown in the above screenshot.  In order to fix it and get it back to normal, go to the Obs program, make sure its in focus and then press F11 which will put it into full screen.  Press F11 again to bring it back to a window.

This should fix the screen ui issue with OBS.

• First question people will ask is what exactly is the google ABC Method?

Google search bar has a feature that automatically suggests words based on what you have already typed in the text box.  If you search for a keyword and then just add a "A", it will show you all the suggestions that people search for on google for that keyword.

Here are some screenshot examples of using the ABC Method on google.

As shown in the screenshots, we used twitch as the keyword and started the ABC method. So use the keyword or specific topic, then type A and see what the results are showing in the pop up box.  Then swap the A with B which can be repeated over and over thru the whole alphabet. The results are showing many different words which can be turned into content that answers a question.

You can continue to use this method to generate even longer terms and search for possible questions people are asking about a keyword. 

• What is the ABC method for youtube?

This is exactly the same idea but instead of using google, you will use the youtube search bar.

Here is a screenshot example of using the ABC Method on youtube.

Both ways show you content ideas to write about or to make videos on based on the keyword you used.  This can be expanded in many different ways to even show you questions for whatever niche you are involved in or want to get into in the future.

This is one of the best kept secrets that many content creators have been using to generate ideas for making videos, streaming and writing blogs.  If you are very keyed into a certain product, service or news event and can create content before everyone else, this will also help your placement on both youtube and google.

 

Ban these channel bots as soon as possible!

One of the biggest problems streamers face these days on the Twitch platform is the proliferation of channel bots. The chat bots join thousands of channels collecting data, views, followers and confuse unsuspecting new streamers. New streamers believe viewers listed in "users in the chat" are people consuming the content when they are just doing some data harvesting and fishing for follows.



Some of these bots in our opinion are purposely being placed to get new streamer to click on them and visit their channel page. Which then runs ads or auto hosts another channel in the attempt to boost views.

It is highly recommended that you ban all of them from being listed in your channel. To do that go to your channels chat box and type /ban channel. Replace the channel with all the below listed bots which will be periodicity updated. You can do this right now even if your channel is offline. Doing it before you go live will prevent them from showing in the user list.

How to get sponsorships for your twitch affiliate channel! One of the best and most easiest ways for a new twitch affiliate to get sponsors is to use the following platforms.

Game Key Distributions
Keymailer - key distribution platform.  Keymailer is most likely one of the top key distro out their for game influencers.  Its going to be harder for a new affiliate to get keys from here but its something to look forward to down the line if your channel grows bigger. NOTE: Keymailer may sometimes lists games to which they dont have any keys for but collect your requests in order to sell that to game publishers.

Noiz.gg - distributes keys, sponsorship opportunities.  This is a great platform that has many opportunities for paid sponsorships with games even with low CV amounts.


Arsenal.gg - analytics, key distribution platform.


Xsolla - keys, affiliate programs, performance-driven


Terminals.io - key distribution platform, PR

Additional notes:

Make sure to have a business contact email address on your twitch channels about section and on your other linked in social media profiles.  Many times sponsors maybe interested in working with you but no email address is provided for contact which leaves them to move on to the next channel.

Other things to take into consideration is your audience, your community and what your niche is and how a possible sponsorship can make sense for both you and them.  If you want to work with a brand and you think there are possible synergies, reach out to a PR contact for the brand.  It never hurts to ask and attempt to network.

What is launch padding for streamers?

What is launch padding and how are streamers doing it?

Launch padding is basically using specific games with high 3rd party embedding traffic to gain higher directory placement in new or more popular games.

What are some games that are good for launch padding?

As of 8/30/2018 the day of this post, the following games in my opinion have the best launch padding potential.

• Terraria
• Ark
• Minecraft

Some of the ways I have seen streamers exploit launch padding is by streaming game #2 and then when they finish broadcasting for the day, they then do reruns streams of game #1 (usually one of the games listed). Because viewership levels tend to drop during certain time zones and the amount of streamers also goes down, they are able to grab the top slot in game #1 directory and once that occurs the traffic from the embedding 3rd party boosts them. This is not always perfect but in general its works pretty well for some.

Or they stream game #1 until they grab the embedding traffic spike, then switch to game #2. A good example would be some people streaming Terraria, grabbing the embedding traffic and then switching to other games that have 'Twitch Drop' enabled like Warframe which further boosts numbers depending on directory placement.

If you have a big enough community, you can leverage this to possibly help with getting more exposure on the platform. But always keep in mind, 3rd party traffic is not something you control, it can end at any given moment.

Viewers in common analytics

Which channels have viewers in common with mine?

One of the newest pieces of analytics Twitch is offering to broadcasters is a top 5 viewers in common statistic. You can find this panel by opening up your dashboard, then going to the channel section under analytics on the left sidebar. There you should see a panel similar to this screenshot below, note I have censored the channels on this picture for a reason.





This section is extremely handy for determining possible co-streaming opportunities with other streamers on the platform. Try to reach out to channels in the list and see if you can work together in some fashion. Maybe even add these channels to auto host since the audience is similar.

Another interesting tidbit this panel is useful for is to determine streamers who are sending negativity your way via their viewer base. <--- Remember this line. If you find yourself wondering why so many chatters seem to have some agenda with what they are typing away, investigate this panel and see if these channels are talking about your channel.  In my situation, it easily pointed to a competitive mindset streamer who was indeed targeting my channel with negativity.
